Announcement Event Veelbegaafd Foundation
It was sometime in the 1960s that Els van Noorduijn ran into limits. She wanted to go harder, higher and further, but with her coach and the rest of the athletics world in the Netherlands, she fell flat. The Dutch shot put was in a bind.
But Els did not let the ball drop. She knew that athletics in GDR was at a higher level. So why not go to East Germany?
She wrote a letter and got one back. She was allowed to come.
And so began the unlikely story of a Dutch sportswoman in a land of doping without doping scandals, of invisible Stasi agents following her everywhere and rigorous training with coach (NAME?).
With success. Els came back to the Netherlands and was among the top athletes in the world with sports successes that put our country on the international map. First as a participant and later as a national coach.
Els discovered in everything she did that throwing up a ball is so much more than ball striking. Not only is sport a game. The road to the top is also a game. As long as it remains spontaneous and always sees and seeks new opportunities everywhere.
Els did things differently than the others. And that yielded results for herself and for the status of top sports in her country. Doing things differently was not simply a sign of stubbornness. In each case, it led to the conquest of unexplored territory.
Today, Els applies what she herself discovered as a multi-talented athlete to business. With her organization Gifted, she helps multi-talented people and the organizations that welcome them.
Multitalented people often fail to advance in organizations. Apparently, no one realizes that it is precisely with these gifted individuals that the solution to the challenges facing a company may lie.
On April 10, the Third Gifted Event will take place for the third time in the Grote Kerk in Wageningen. Participants will work with each other that day to discover the power of play.
The challenges facing businesses today require more than an inside-the-box approach. It requires new ways. Roads we only discover through play. Pathways that the gifted know how to find and walk.
Els always did things differently. Will you participate?
